[attr="class","sern-thread-text"]Born from smokeless fire, Jinn were created by Allah before the first human soul was created. They are said to be even older than Reapers, and were created in a universe parallel to ours. The most mischievous and sinister can be accounted for the corruption of Angels, other Jinn, and Humans alike; spawning the creation of Demons. Not many Jinn are left and because of it there are few who involve themselves with mankind.
They can take on any form they choose - animal or human - and can be of any size, ranging from a small pebble to a three story house. They have two forms - their jinn form and their humanoid form - the latter simply being used as a means to blend in. Their jinn forms vary in markings depending on the type of genie, their location, and their power, but all Jinn share common traits such as glowing blue eyes and a smokeless blue fire that radiates from their body during feeding.
Jinn are able to consume human drinks and foods, though they often prefer not to. Their main source of food is human, whether it is their blood or energy they desire, depends on the Jinn.
Most of them are hostile, although some can be friendly or neutral. Like humans they have free will and can choose to turn on anyone at a moments notice. It is possible for magicians or wise men and women to gain power over a Jinn and use it to perform amazing and magical tasks, but they cannot grant wishes as many believe them to do. But be wary, for even a friendly Jinn is unpredictable, and certainly anyone who breaks an agreement with a Jinn will strongly regret it. Often Jinn take naughty pleasure in punishing people for wronging them, even unintentionally. Jinn are also generally believed responsible for illness and mayhem.
Jinn are immortal. They do not age (unless born) nor do they die easily. However it is possible to kill one but even with the weakest of jinn it's a difficult task to complete. Teleportation, astral projection, fire resistance, superhuman speed - similar to a vampires - and superhuman senses are also a few perks that only grow stronger with age. Jinn of all levels also have the ability to shield themselves from mortal eyes if they wish it, but Witches and Fae can see them without issue. In order to properly use their powers they also are empaths and can also project their thoughts into someone else's mind, but cannot read them.
Jinn don't have a lot of weaknesses but they are susceptible to magic. However, the only way to truly be rid of a Jinn is through banishment or by setting them aflame in the flames that created them; the flames of the Jinn world. Inexperienced Magicians will trap a Jinn in an object, usually one with a seal-able opening, in the hopes of gaining wishes, though they soon find out that Jinn do not grant wishes, but cause remarkable good luck towards their captor only for it to be completely turned against them when they least expect it. In most cases Jinn are trapped simply because there is no possible way to kill them if one causes too much destruction and mayhem in a particular area.
There is such a thing as using too much power and Jinn are susceptible to becoming weak from overuse, though they will never truly lose their powers, this can make them extremely vulnerable and kill-able by conventional means.
Most Jinn were created--and still can be under the right circumstances--but they can also be born from two Jinn parents. In cases of only one Jinn parent the child will always end up a Jinn. Jinn pregnancies are very much the same as human pregnancies with the exception they last only 3-4 months.
Jinn: These are the most common type of Jinn, and though they have the same abilities as their more powerful brethren, they're not as strong and least likely to interact with humans on a corporal level. They are considered the tricksters and are accountable for the many "hauntings" humans encounter.
Sheytans: Commonly known as the "genie devils", their powers are more of persuasion than deal making, though they still have the ability to strike deals to those who show the proper respect. Many are responsible for planting malicious suggestions to both humans and Jinn alike. Lucifer, though the most powerful Jinn and first to have fallen, was considered a Sheytan as well as many crossroad demons.
Afrits/Ifrits: Are the second most powerful and are known for their cunning and resourcefulness. Unlike the Marid's, they are able to mingle with others without issue and can either be neutral or malevolent.
Marids: Are the most powerful, oldest and are known as the most arrogant and proud, making them the least human-like out of the four types. They are the royalty of the Jinn kingdom.
