House Delacroix

With roots going back to South Africa, the Delacroix family were once slaves brought to the new territory of Louisiana and at one time called New Orleans home. Once freed from their masters they had already become accustomed to the Delacroix name and took it as their own as they proceeded North where they would come to meet the other Founding Families.

Commonly known as the “Caretakers”, the Delacroix's are in charge of the protection, healing and yearly renewal of the sacred trees that give the town its immense power as well as all celestial events and festivals. Due to the fact that the town’s magical energy is harnessed from sacred Oak trees, this family has an aptitude for healing, magical containment and extraction, spiritual and animal communication, transmutation and a personal connection to the Ancestors. It is their job to ensure the survival of the town by making sure their magical supply is strong and ample and that the Ancestors are respected, as well. They are the only family strong enough to use Ancestral Magic.

Josephine Delacroix was not the first Delacroix to arrive to the New World, but she is the first to settle her family in the small village of Hallow Oaks. Josephine as well as the house itself can be considered the youngest, having arrived 5 years after the initial founding of Hallow Oaks. However, it was with her help a settlement between the Witches and Fae was made, and along with the House of Fay is responsible for maintaining peace with them.
