[attr="class","sern-thread-text"]Elves were originally a race of minor gods of nature and fertility but have since become as varied as the Realm they come from. Elves are often pictured as youthful-seeming men and women of great beauty living in forests and other natural places, underground, or in wells and springs, however, if angered or disrespected they can become extremely dangerous and often times take on a much more sinister appearance. They have been portrayed to be long-lived or immortal and have magical powers attributed to their tribe, place of origin, the deity they worship, or the rank they hold. Even if some elves are said to be immortal, elves of all tribes die a natural death after long lives.
[break][break]
The amount of years elves live indeed varies enormously, ranging from 100 years to over 10,000. It is also known that very often elves end their lives of their own will when they see a necessity to do so or if they think that their life's goal has been reached. Of course elves may also die when they are wounded severely, but in general elves heal very fast when they are tended to quickly. Death on the other hand is nothing an elf fears. The fact of death is interpreted by the elves as a return to nature and most welcome it with open arms.
The Drow, or dark elves are a generally morbid, dark-skinned sub-race of elves. After the Great War, a group of elves believed differently about the outcome of the war than the other elves, most seeing the other races as threats and wanted to abolish them, so those who would ultimately become the Drow were forced underground in what is now known as the Underdark, a vast system of caverns and tunnels spanning much of the continent. The Drow have since built a city across the Underdark, becoming one of the most powerful races therein. The Drow have adapted to seeing better in the darkness than in the light after so long, and they rarely, if ever, venture up to the surface, for their eyes are sensitive to the light.
[break][break]
Drow are extremely intelligent, charismatic and dexterous, but share surface elves' comparative frailty and slight frames as well as their strengths and some weaknesses. Females tend to be stronger than males but are smaller. Females have more power than males in all cases but war and defense. Drow are characterized by white or silver hair, obsidian black or green-ish skin, and red (or rarely gray, violet, or yellow) eyes, as well as innate spell powers and spell resistance. This is balanced by their weakness to daylight. As a race, Drow aren't necessarily evil but they are very stubborn, close-minded, and are usually brought up to dislike other races. Exceptions exist, but these are highly unusual.
Better known as the bureaucrats of their society, the Elite of the Elven race, they make up the majority of the population and hold the most power over the varies tribes and courts, as well as guard the secrets of their ancestors. They have a skin color that ranges from deep lavender to marble white, and they have extremely long (almost lagomorphic) ears, and hair in various cool-toned shades including blue, purple, green, white and black. The eyes of most Light Elves glow with a bright silver light, but in some rare cases a gold eyed Light Elf is born, the gold color signify they are destined for great things. The race is tall, with the men standing approximately at 7.5 feet. The men are always of a slim-waist yet rock-like, extremely muscular build including gigantic bear-like strength. The women are very different, having a slim, athletic, and voluptuous build, but still standing nearly as tall as the men.
Elves are mysterious, mystical beings, wrought from light during the birth of time. They are often arrogant and haughty as a result of their advanced age both as a race, and as individuals. They have seen the dawn of time, the birth of man, the changing of countless seasons, all blurred into a history remembered and revered in stories and songs. It is said from these Elves all other sub-species originated.

They are wardens of nature. Their lives are long and know no sickness or disease. They know much happiness but also hold great sorrow since the Great War. They feel the joy of mother earth and her children but also feel her grief. They are also seen as skilled archers, powerful healers, and deadly warriors but are known to be quite ignorant to those who seek harm to them or their homes. Wood Elves have a skin color that ranges from golden to shades of brown, their hair is usually cut short and adorned with woodland leaves or branches, and their eyes vary from green, blue, and brown.

Glamour - With the need to blend in Elves have developed the ability to change their appearance to mimic the appearance of a human. They cannot mimic another person or take on several persona's, but they can choose how they wish to appear, but once chosen can only retain that particular image. They do however have the ability to revert back to their true form at any time and vise versa. Even in their human forms they are said to be radiantly beautiful.

Heightened Senses/Reflexes - All Elves are graced with superior reflexes and senses that grow stronger with age.

Magic - Elves are able to manipulate energy as they see fit, but like Magi and Demons have their limitations. Though all Elves have a natural resistance to magic, the Drow are the only ones who have developed a high resistance to most magic, with Spirit magic being an exception. Elves can perform all forms of magic (with enough skill, of course) but can only master a select few and usually they pertain to either their heritage, place of origin, or personal preference. Wood Elves are known for their knowledge in herbal magic, healing, and communicating and manipulating the elements, animals, and Mother Nature - with her permission. Dark Elves are infamous for their manipulation of shadows, fire and earth, illusions, and knowledge of deadly poisons. Light Elves, despite their strong ties to science and politics, have a history of producing some of the most powerful beings in recorded Elven history, their powers including the manipulation of light and time.

Teleportation - Elves have the ability to transport themselves to one location to the next within the blink of an eye. Not only can they teleport, they also have the ability to cross realms without the need of magical aid. They can bring others with them through the Veil, but it requires a lot of energy the more people they transport.

Summoning - With the proper incantation Elves, much like Angels and Demons, can be summoned and trapped. The strength of the Elf is dependent on the strength of the binding spell, but if skilled enough a Magi can contain, even enslave an Elf. But not without a price.
Iron - All Fae, including Elves, are susceptible to harm by Iron and therefore most Elves find the metal to be a sign of disrespect or perceived as a threat. The metal, if touched to skin, can burn an Elf and if pierced through the heart can instantly kill an Elf.

Spirit Magic - Like spirits Elves are susceptible to spirit magic, even the Drow, though the Magi must have an extremely large power source and the skill to do it. With the right materials Elves can be trapped, bound, or sedated, but if released will surely strike back with almost god-like force.

Reapers - Even the oldest Elves are not immune to the touch of a Reaper, though in most cases they are more likely welcomed than feared.
Like Vampire and Divine blood, Elven blood is extremely euphoric, but addictive, and grants the user a temporary boost in either their magic, strength, or stamina - which ever is sought after the most. Because of its high potency the drawbacks are quite severe as one drop can bind a person to addiction for life and if not properly regulated can cause the user to undergo fits of rage until they are provided the blood. While under the effects it is difficult to spot a difference with the exception of the additional benefits it provides, but as soon as the blood is out of their system they often describe a feeling similar to starvation.
